Calls are going out again today. I just got one! How long have people been waiting for the Hogan test e-mail link?

That is awesome. Do you mind telling your quals?
I hear it takes about a day to get the Hogan...

I had a missed call earlier with a blocked caller ID. Does this match the M.O or am I being overly optimistic?

DeuceMountain 08-21-2014 01:53 PM

"Blocked" is what shows up on my iPhone every time it's a United call.

My call for the Hogan test came from a Chicago area code. Maybe it depends on the caller. Good luck

Hogan submitted. Fingers crossed. Having second thoughts about wether the suffering of animals affects me and why do stars twinkle.

Anyone know when they started interviews in Aug? Was it last week or this week?

pokey9554 08-25-2014 08:33 PM

I believe it was last week, on the 19th.

TailwheelJunkie 08-26-2014 07:25 AM

Rookie question here - if I get called for an interview but can't answer the phone, will they leave a message for me to call back? My schedule right now practically guarantees that I will miss the call ...

Tailwheel,
I missed the call, they left a message, and I called them right back.

Perfect, thanks guys!

Congrats to all who got the call. To anyone in the know, is there a normal time frame from the initial call to Hogan test, what's the procedure there? Got the call Thursday, still no email and wondering if it was possible to fall through the cracks. Thanks!

ox999 08-27-2014 08:33 AM

For me it was a matter of minutes...but that was a year ago. Did you check your Spam container?

I don't know what the "normal" is anymore, but I can tell you that I got a call on Thursday and the e-mail for the Hogan came on the next Tuesday. It sounds like some folks got it the next day after the call, though...so it's anyone's guess. I think if they called you, you will get it...it just might take a couple days for some reason.

Calls are going out again. Got the interview invite this afternoon.

I assume you are talking about calls to schedule interviews, not initial contacts. Congrats on passing the Hogan- what interview dates are they offering now?

Deke999999 08-28-2014 04:30 PM

The dates are for the third week in September. The gouge of answering the hogan honestly, and not "what they want to hear" works. Went fast and went with my first instinct.

Has anyone that interviewed over the past two weeks heard anything yet?

Interview review boards meet on Wednesdays, and calls go out on Wed., Thurs., and if necessary, Fridays. I don't know if this is absolute, but everyone I know that has NOT been called by the Friday following their interview has been turned down. The rejection emails seem to take 2-3 weeks to go out. I don't know if they hold onto some names until the following week to reconsider them, or if they just do the emails in batches.

flyfit 08-31-2014 10:09 PM

I was told this week may take a day or so longer due to the holiday weekend also. So let's not freak out if we don't hear by Wednesday :)

Macdacpilot 09-01-2014 12:02 PM

Any idea how long it takes to find out if you hooked the Hogan test? I hearing it is about 4 business days right now for positive results, what about negative?

Rejection comes in the form of an email. As a very general guideline, the longer you wait, the better your chances, but there isn't really a point where you're guaranteed to have passed. I've heard of the "thanks but no thanks" email taking as long as 4-5 days, but it usually seems to show up within a day or two of submission.

New to this site---have my app in with United and trying to get a list of documents required for the process and also any rec for interview prep would be great. Thx and congrats on being hired...

They'll let you know. Its not like making a copy of your license or passport will take much prep. College transcript if you don't already have a copy. Have your FCC card too.

melias31 09-02-2014 06:24 PM

Anyone hear how long the Chief Pilot meet and greet stack is? I interviewed back in November just wondering how long the stack is now.

mcflyer11 09-03-2014 05:57 AM

Sim prep

what is the consensus on best sim prep for interview?? Thanks!

I did sim prep with FTI in Denver last week, the day before my interview. It was great! My instructor was Richard Adams - he was fantastic. Because I have never flown anything as big as a 737, I can't imagine having done the interview without it...priceless.

flyfit 09-03-2014 08:20 AM

I also did my some prep with FTI last week. It was certainly worth every penny. I am currently flying the ERJ and the 737 was completely different to me. I can't imagine going in and doing it without the prep. Highly recommend the investment!!

hummingbear 09-03-2014 06:56 PM

Congratulations to all who are preparing for the interview. If you haven't already, would you mind sharing your qualifications for those of us whose résumés are still in the stack? Thanks.

Now I am confused. A buddy of mine said they were going to drop the Sim evaluation. Is this true and just hasn't happened?

Lear - I haven't heard anything to that effect. All I can say is that they were doing them last week.

Hummingbear - I interviewed last week and got the job offer today (~Oct 7th class). I am around 2300TT (mostly military jets - PIC, turbine). CFI/CFII. A couple of internal LORs and one CP LOR. I applied July 2013, got the CP LOR in May, interview invite mid-July 2014. My original date of availability was 1 June 2013. Hope this helps.

No the sim evaluation will stay. It was debated and then decided to keep it since we have the old device. Personally I wish we would not do it and focus on a scenario and interview panel.

But then what would I do with all my free time? :D

Frasca or sim?

It's one of the old full flight sims @TK, a 737-500 with EFIS. There are a few of them, used for contract training and interviews.
