There are a couple of things in play here.
Training scheduling moving to ORD has been a nightmare for anybody in training for the last 4-5 months. Yes there have been some that have taken more than the 90 days and some have taken their contractual right. Also there have been some who have/are trying to game the system. One even called in fatigue for a sim two times. These two times appear to be very strategic when you look at the person's schedule. However, there are "eyes on" now trying to monitor this and avoid this from happening. There may be instructors "helping a bro out," maybe. But it could be the same saying the south is doing it too. All I do know is if someone gets caught doing it then it will be ugly for some, for sure. Deliberate and intentional abuse will end in job loss, just ask the MD of training. |
Look, I don't have a problem with someone using the contract. It has been said that people are stretching purposefully to not finish. That was my only point.
I am hardly Outraged.....As someone tried to say. |

The flying has been co-mingled now for almost 4 years. There are LCAL pilots flying out of previous UAL bases (all of them) and LUAL people flying out of GUM and IAH. We both had NYC bases prior to the merger. Also, United has taken on 26 guppies to replace 757s, so I don't understand how people get so defensive when LUAL pilots bid those aircraft. Its not our fault they are doing flying out of EWR, etc. We had a base there before and these are airplanes that we would have got anyway to replace the 757s. Its all UAL pilots flying now. All 12,600+ of us. We bid it based on our seniority, except for sparky and the whale for 19 more months then that opens up to everyone. So no one "owns" the flying. Its all community property now. I don't hear IAD based pilots complaining that pilots who were flying the 757 or 777 out of EWR are now coming in and pushing them down the BES list, because that is happening as well. They are just not getting super defensive about it. The seniority system is what it is, and the contract is what it is. If we can't agree on that, the rest is not really even worth discussing. The only real thing I've heard that they are upset with is that their sweet deal where they got 100% of the new flying of an airline that is now more than twice as big as them all to themselves, and now they have to share it. |

Allright, back up. It is this that outrages you? Calpa delays the contract and sli for well over a year, cal pilots end up holding cap bids all over the ual system dramatically out of seniority (3000+ numbers in den alone) yet a handful of l-ual pilots utilize their contractual right to bump when uch can't get them trained (note, no training train wreck on the lual side) and you're outraged. Unreal.

So it has been stated that United north FO's... apparently bidding 737 (backlogged training program) stretching training out > 90 days and using contract to "displace" into 756 CA seats that didn't have vacancies.
Seriously!? I was 15 days short of being a DEN 737 FO and based at home. 15 days and I didn't even try to delay it. Don't blame the pilots for following the contract blame management for falling on their face with EVERYTHING they try to do. You can always bid back to FO if your seniority can't hold the life style you want, and I promise I won't complain when you bump me down a number and start a thread called LCAL Captains at it again: bidding down to FO because they were to junior to hold a CA position and now their QOL sucks. Seriously ?! |
@Master- so you wanted and were awarded 737 DEN? But, could not take it because of the 92 day clock? Company made you bid out?

It's in the contract. The company needs to train people in a timely fashion. If people are purposefully working the system they should be disciplined.

Legacy united people are going to drive this company into bankruptcy again. You (l-UAL) are more preoccupied with making a point than having a functional airline. I don't like our management. I don't like our direction. I do want this airline to succeed. I am not going to cut off my nose to spite my face. If you don't like it here then leave. All I want to do is provide a good service for a fair wage. I don't want your baggage- I don't care who crapped on you before. Passengers don't care about how you were lied to. They don't care that you were betrayed. They just want what they paid for. If you can't do that then just leave. Part of the reason the airline sucks is because of poor customer service. If you are part of that problem then just go away.
