I was going to guess Jack Handy, but "Ode de Smisek" works for me.

Unfortunately when you get consultants involved they have knowledge of broader strategic plans than mid and low level managers do. When the mid level mangers do not know the plan, expecting ALPA to is little naive. I am not talking about malicious strategies, stuff more like overall ASM growth by regions. I am also not saying ALPA was wrong either. Everyone I am sure came up with the best conclusion as to what they expected the outcome to be. What would be really telling is for ALPA to tell us what they thought people would have bid verse what the company thought would have happened.

Also I think what HA said after the surpuls award came out was taken out of context. I belive his comments about increased training came from the overall future flying level increases. A majority bid over to the 737 as I think everyone expected. The amount of people that went to the 320 was a few more than expected but nothing drastic in the big picture. You have to remember that the 320 is far more senior than the 737 and in turn will have the most people bidding off it to bigger or captain slots on a system wide basis. Also the 320 and 737 are the simplest fleets to move flying to where the crews are.

Today's snapshot shows a total of 7, count them seven, total bids for the 150 seats.

Most of them are from EWR. Robbing Peter to pay Paul.

At least 143 spots for new-hires....
