The Max will have the CFM/GE Leap X engine which is the competitor to the Pratt GTF.

No worries, I was just trying to make the point that the 777 is almost never restricted from taking off at MGTOW, the only question is what kind of weight you take.

Sorry to revive this thread. Flew two legs last week into DEN, both in 900's, both weight restricted. In May! Coming out of IAD company bought off 20 passengers to the tune of $1k/each, I'm guessing credit towards future flights. Talking to the flight attendants in DEN who rode those airplanes in, those all had blocked seats too. Expensive couple of days for the 737.

Forecast for ice from 10k-23k. Nothing dispatchers could do, have to apply the penalty.

If the 321's were built in 1992, yes. For the last 10 or so years you can get 321's with 34K thrust engines. They are rockets. Clipped wing rockets. It is like a 757-200 with 10 feet cut off the wingtips. But takeoff and landing performance and speeds are better than an 800, let alone a 900.

Weight restricted in an A320 coming out of DEN to IAH about 2 weeks ago. Had to buy a number of pax off.

An INOP Center Tank Pump will do that. That's the only time I've ever seen a weight restricted Bus. The new interiors (the added 6 seats) may cause issues in the future. ie Winter ops- BOS-SEA, etc.

Guys and gals,

We all know there is nothing to like about the 737NG, especially the 900ERs, or the MAX, when that arrives.....:rolleyes:

I know none of you will voluntarily bid such a POS even to get a left seat upgrade:rolleyes:. I mean, why would you want to fly in a fleet that will basically be equal in numbers to the 5th largest carrier in the world when all is said and done?

We don't make the decision on what to buy/fly. While I think that Fifi is a better aircraft in many ways. Company ain't getting them so GTF over it. Don't bid it if you are that objectionable to the aircraft.

Other than the very junior folks/new hires, no one on the property HAS TO ever fly it....:cool:

The gate agents in MSY were saying they've buying people off every week (10-30 people per flight) for the last 3 months and it's been every day lately (MSY-DEN) because of the cool, wet weather there. She was throwing out numbers like $1000.00 to 1300.00 pay out to those DB's.

We all know what this plane CAN and CANNOT do. Fine.
But we probably only aware of a fraction of the DB's that occur. Customers may tolerate this briefly, but that is not what is happening. In my mind this lapse in service quality to our customers that is WAY too common on our product and is unacceptable. Period.

Exactly. Who among us would tolerate a DB after they bought a ticket?

That we do it to our customers so often is disgraceful. Just like fuel stops after an Atlantic crossing. Unacceptable at the rate we've done them. So much for your connection. Pax will vote with their wallets and walk. That's the long term concern for me. Bye Bye profit sharing. Hello lousy rankings. This has nothing to do with the number of airframes. It has to do with optimal utilization of the assets available and the degradation of the brands product.
