I don't wander back to coach very often, but the 787 was 9 across last time I checked.

Just checked. You are correct. The 787 is just shorter and lighter than the 777. The 787-10 is slightly longer than a 777-200.

Take it for what it's worth...

Flew with an LCA today who said we're getting four used Busses from Spirit & are in talks with Turkish Airlines for used Busses.

TIFWIW - Greg Hart said the same thing recently in a Q&A session with the new hire class ... looking at A319s to replace some regional flying. Again, TIFWIW

No doubt that the company is feeling the effects of scope choke and regional reliability/cost issues. Adding mainline narrow body capacity could ameliorate some of the negative effects of UCH's regional contracts. The operative word being: contracts.

Who knows what the terms and duration of the various CPA's are? Will adding mainline capacity decrease regional CPA costs, or just add reliability (if in fact that is the issue)?

Finally, it's important to realize there is one way around scope choke, and it's not adding mainline current fleet aircraft. It may worth passing onto your LEC rep that you're not interested in a waivering 1-c-1-g unless we'd like to start the 20 year RJ cycle all over again.

Napkin math tells me that's upwards of 140 new large RJ's if we were to do that. HELL NO.

The regionals couldn't staff 140 new RJ's. They can't staff what they have now

I think we are in for some interesting times ahead. Good thing we have Jeffie and Howie to guide us.

Anytime I hear about some bit of truth from the mouths of LCAs or MEC members in " the jump seat"I automatically don't believe the story. Anyone using the expression "Done Deal" also has no clue

Watch for the announcement:

100 seat aircraft (Bombardier)

75 firm orders and 50 options for UAL mainline

15000 pilot list by 2018

That will free up per scope additional 175s for Express ----as it is current language per contract 2012

Based on this article from 10 months ago, Mythbusters deems your rumor "Plausible."

United Said to Mull Embraer, CSeries Jets in Fleet Revamp - Bloomberg Business

What I found intriguing was the remark that the CS would not enter service until the latter-half of 2015.

Also: Mythbusters was FAR better when she was still on the show: ;)
