Default First in line for an interview

Does anyone have an idea how many people are in the perverbial "short stack" for an interview call? I most definitely am not in that stack, (I wish I was) so I was wondering how fast it might deplete before the rest of us common folk might get an opportunity.

Unfortunately I'm going to guesstimate and say that the list is "long and distinguished." Based on how long some have had to wait after a meet and great (months) and based on how many people the CPs and ACPs are meeting a week. Good luck!

I am no expert but there is a multiple silo theory of how they pull apps. They have a short stack pile of apps, an intern pile, a well qualified pile, and a good but less qualified pile. I think they go through waves of who they call and they pull from all piles at once. Some people are interviewing with all regional first officers and some are interviewing with a complete mix of people from all over the spectrum. There isn't a rhyme or reason to some of the calls but they are all good candidates for one reason or another. Just keep the app up to date and try to check as many boxes as you can. Weird things happen!

They pull apps from all stacks. The short stack just gets more taken from than the normal stack. The highest points getters rise to the top of their respective stacks, therefor you can be selected from either one. You just have a greater chance in the short stack. I have heard that 70% get pulled from the short, 30% from the normal stack, but I can't confirm this. If they plan to hire 1000 pilots this year they will have to select approximately 2000 to the interview process. At that rate they will have interviewed every applicant in 5 years. Considering all the other companies are likely hiring from that same pool I would say within the next 3 years basically every applicant will have had the opportunity to interview. Stay positive and keep building the resume! Keep updating the app as well!

And then I could depend on how competitive you are in the intern silo/stack

I knew interns with quals, took over a year from OTS hiring to getting a call. And they had plenty of TPIC, good GPA, job fairs, etc.

As far as the M&G's, same. I know a guy pressing 2 years. Lots of TPIC, 4.0, a few job fairs, updates regularly, crickets.
