I'm curious about how trips are put together. For example. if you're DCA-based on a three-day trip you're basically shuttling back and forth between out-bases and DCA and not hitting other hubs with nothing in between right? Also during bidding, besides days on/off do you get to bid where the overnight or is it luck of the draw?

Lets say you are on the A320 in DC...expect to go anywhere in North America and not do DC turns. Leave base for three days and then come back (in general).

Sure, you can request specific overnights in PBS and weigh them how you see fit...the luck of the draw comes in with your seniority.

Thanks Macdacpilot. So on any given day I'm assuming a mix of outbases and other hubs (e.g DCA-IND-DEN-MCI RON) and transcontinental (e.g. DCA-SEA RON). Sound right?

Soooooo... we're supposed to received more info when? This week coming up?

Just got the email with the information for the class. In the welcome letter it states to contact them for a positive-space round trip ticket with a return leg after 3:30 on the 5th day of training of the first week.

Are we expected to travel home after the first week?
What about travel back home after BI is complete?

Just checking to see what to do before emailing them back with my travel request. Thanks!

Positive space to/from training. Most people go home but you don't have to check out from your hotel. After the first week you take care of your own travel arrangements. You can stay if you want but no body from my class 2 years ago stayed in town.
Welcome to United!

you make arrangements to/from BI with the new hire office… then once you get your ID and have access to the United systems (EmployeeRes and Email) you'll book Positive Space (PS5) tickets to/from home and training location using EmployRes and then get them approved by the Pilot Service Center via email or phone… easy. Hotels for BI are booked by the new hire office automatically…

Don't PS5 to LHR, unless that is your home of record. It doesn't work out well.

Let me guess.....somebody tried to sneek one by the Pilot Service Center and they were on Probation?

Dumb.

We had a guy fired from my new hire class. They told us no less than 20 times that you couldn't PS any place other than your home of record or your domicile. Poor Carlos had to press to test...good thing he never resigned from his previous employer. 8 years later, he is still there.

Was that the guy that was specifically told not to go to LAS?
