Default 2 July staffing update

"The continuing aircraft deliveries require staffing increases on the fleet. Between now and the summer of 2016, we expect to add approximately 13 incremental aircraft, training will therefore need to continue at maximum or near maximum capacity, with a significant portion of training at off-site locations.

Our new-hire plan totals roughly 1,600 pilots over the next 18 months, spread across our 737and 320 fleets.

Given our 737 fleet is still not balanced, the upcoming vacancies will serve three purposes: rebalancing the fleet, funding new hires, and continuing the regular staffing process. To that extent, we will continue modest growth in DCA, along with SFO, ORD, and LAX. IAH will reduce in size, as previously announced."

I've thought these things to be a decent look into what's ahead at this airline.

Then....I see this one.

Take the IAH 320 forecast for example. In the January update, it says the CAP seat was understaffed by 26-50 pilots.

Now the July forecast says it's OVERSTAFFED by 26-50. A change of 50-100 pilots in one BES? In 6 months?

You'd think I'd learn after 20 years....but no. Don't put ANY weight on this type of drivel released by the company, either good or bad. Drivel. That's all it is.

We should start an online pool, how many months before UAL advertises 737 captain vacancies in IAH.

I guess November.

FWIW the "heat map" was based off of summer '15 flying. The new July 2nd "heat map" is for summer '16.

Thats why there is a difference.
