So for a prospective applicant, what would be a realistic timeline to a domicile towards the west coast? Thanks.

Won't take long... LAX and particularly SFO usually go quite junior with unfilled FO bids on the 737 and A320. You just need there to be bids, which these days are almost every month except during the summer.

I'll agree that SFO goes junior, but not so much with LAX.

One dynamic that's changed with the CAL/UAL merger (for LUAL pilots) is that EWR is now the most junior base in the system and will likely be the most junior for a very, very long time. UAL had a small NYC base which went senior - now that EWR is a large domicile, combined with a large DCA domicile - the east coast (EWR, DCA) will likely have the most junior bases in the system for the foreseeable future.

SFO will be the most junior base west of the Mississippi, so if you're junior, plan on that being your first base in the west. Then just keep a standing bid for LAX if that's where you want to be based and with current movement, you should get it before you're off of probation.

Thanks for the replies.

Ok, I guess it's time for a lecture on how we need to wear those silly little ALPA wings that you clowns think are so precious. Unified pilot group? Not in my lifetime as long as crap like this is the prevalent thought from your legacy group.

I don't need to hide behind an anonymous message board.

Mike we believe in the pin as a representation of an individual that will have your back. Scabs will not have your back and they are not allowed to wear the pin at LUAL.

I am sorry you feel the way you do I hope it changes, we have to work in this industry for a long time and we need all UAL pilots to come together. Wearing the pin also shows the unity to management, I hope over time you will believe in the power of unity.

LUAL:D

The latest snapshot disagrees. Unfilled in LAX on both the 737 and A320. SFO will always be more junior (larger...) but LAX will be junior as well.

Pre merger the 2nd most junior active pilot in the system was a LAX 320 FO.

And he was probably one of the guys RV living in the parking lot near the approach end of 25L at LAX.
