Base trade?
#2
1. looked at the PBS bid awards, got names.
2. write up a short statement of what you want to trade,
3. went to mail room and put notes in the files of fleet/seat asking if interested
4. cross your fingers
I couldn't think of another way to get the exposure. The official way to do it would be post a note on the ALPA board asking about interest, but I don't think many people actually frequent the ALPA boards anymore.

I just got a base trade, but it was a bit of work.
1. looked at the PBS bid awards, got names.
2. write up a short statement of what you want to trade,
3. went to mail room and put notes in the files of fleet/seat asking if interested
4. cross your fingers

Or actually maybe its not hard to believe we are doing it that way.

Since LAX 756 is going a bit senior for you on this latest vacancy bid, have you looked at putting in for SFO 756?
Along with trying for a base trade, my advice would be to have a standing bid for:
LAX 756
SFO 756

This would be easy to program in and add into CCS. Just have a base trade tab where all the information is there and transparent and everyone can see the available base trades electronically. Hard to believe its 2015 and we are still filling in pre-printed paper slips and posting them on a cork bulletin board to do something like a base trade.
Or actually maybe its not hard to believe we are doing it that way.

Then if the information is freely and easily available, someone 1 number senior to you could swoop in and take your base trade. Right now it's next to impossible to find the info. Conspiracy!!

I assume you're a newhire. Too bad you didn't go for 737 or 320; you'd be able to lateral to LAX on this latest vacancy bid.

I have no idea; 89Pistons is probably very close to the mark. My guess would be the remainder of the flying would mostly be hub to hub and transcon.
If you're looking at going to the West coast, why not just lateral in the 737? If it's about money, you should be able to make as much or more as a guppy line holder than 756 on reserve.
