Yep, interviewed in Oct 2000, no sim. and I know there was no sim until they stopped hiring in Aug 2001.

I agree with tiki, what good does a sim ride do if everyone flys the profile the day before (except make the prep people a lot of money)

back then they made us get a medical at the United medical dept. having a 1st class FAA one was not good enough. CJO was based on passing the medical.

I heard the sim came back because CAL used one in their process.

I just did my interview sim in the Link Trainer that's on the second floor near the CBT room. I had to do the PAR 31 at Idlewild followed by a raw data NDB-A... free tip to future interviewees... Don't forget to turn on the carb heat and close the cowl flaps on descent.

Did they give you a double-shorted secondary just outside of the NDB.

I fully agree. Sim and medical...who needs them. Just pull off a little song and dance and,

you'll have HR eating out of the palm of your hands.

Well dang fellas, egg on my face. Sorry, I thought they kept it till the end of hiring pre 9/11.

I words sung so well by Mike Ness "I was wrongggggggggg!"

Anybody know if the drop of the sim ride happened the SAME time the minimums went from 350TT FW PIC to basically ATP mins?

Sad truth.

There was a time at FedEx where a prep wouldn't do anyone any good. They simply used whatever sim was available. Airbus, Douglas, whatever.

When the standards captain completed my interview he told me the sim review was cancelled due the shutting down of the DC10 sim at Denver… and they had too high a utilization on the other sims to allow interviewees to use it.

FWIW back in the day when I interviewed at American Eagle they ran us through a sim check in the KC-135 sim!

Thanks for the clarification. That crap was long time ago, my memory is starting to suck.

Probably not, since the sim couldn't simulate the bang, bang, bang, and the shake.

back to the OP,
did anyone hear when the 737 EFIS sims go away? and will they use something else for the interview?

There will be no sim. That portion will be replaced by a technical exam.
