TK getting rid of 737-EFIS sims

I have a buddy that is doing contract training at TK. He said one of the instructors told him that United is selling two of the 737-EFIS sims that they have in about 2 months. His company does all their training at TK so I would say their info is good. probably part of the TK upgrade.

Have to make space for the ones coming from IAH, upgrading bays for the floor requirements.

Don't we have a new 787 sim showing up soon and maybe another new 737 sim?

Makes sense to get rid of a sim for an airplane we don't have and aren't likely to operate.

That's bad news for FTI and future interviewees. That program was very convenient.

Sadly, there was a time when TK made money doing contract training for other airlines. 742/classic/ropestart, DC-8, etc,
Long after those planes were gone from UAL.

Actually, the word was they lost money for decades doing contract training. The bean counters weren't counting everything in the "cost" silo, and when they did throw everything in (Positive space 1st class to and from training) they discovered they were losing money.

It could also mean the end of the Sim portion of the interview process.

Or they just move it to a different airframe. My evaluator said he did his interview sim in a DC-10 back in the day....

Good point!

Be glad you didn't have to interview in the Frasca sim. It could rear its ugly head again.
