Default Pass-Fare Calculator

Is there a calculator function on Flying together for Buddy passes and upgraded pass travel?

I can find the document explaining that it's X% of the fare on the day of travel, etc, but I thought there used to be a "Fill in the field" calculator where you said "Going A to B, this class, this date, this travel status," and it gave a fare.

Admittedly, the Travel section in FT is not the easiest to navigate (kind of like the TK section).

It's actually "built-in" on EmployeeRes.

Simply start to create a reservation and you will see the charges on step 3 of 5.

or click on the "quick links" section on the Employee Res left side panel and you will see Pass Calculator as the bottom link.

Warning: the $$ amounts on the fare calculator are considerably less than what it actually turns out to be. Im trying to help my nephew fly as a buddy roundtrip from va-fca...when i researched thru fare calc, it was $300 ish, the options i am choosing from for the next few days are all over $500. And, btw, never book a buddy round trip. If you have to change the return itinerary, the fare changes, you get charged twice, and have to work out a refund. Been there done that.

I have used a buddy pass once in the 2.5 years I've been here. Never again. Never. I wouldn't wish that experience on anyone.

If you're going to do it just make darn sure the traveler knows the deal and that you're not responsible for getting him home when it doesn't work out. I basically forked out full fare $$ for 2 to get them home because I was so sick of dealing with it.

I hear ya Hilltopper. In this case its my nephew traveling with my Mom and my daughter....who are well versed in our non rev joys. Agreed that sending a buddy out on their own is a very unkind thing to do!

I came to the same conclusion. It was for international, so I thought "I should at least check."

It might...might...have saved 20% overall.

But the uncertainty means one day lost sitting in an airport hotel negates any "savings."

It got me wondering though...what are the imputed taxes on my commute?

So, I checked using the fare gonculator. I was kind of shocked.

I think I will be going "jumpseat" a lot more instead of "pass rider." The pass may be free....but the taxes are pretty stiff, especially for multiple times a month.

Doesn't note #2 in the small print exclude personal travel?
*Tax withholding is applicable for Enrolled Friend, Same Sex Domestic Partner, Same Sex Parents, Taxable Dependent, Buddy, and Extended Family Buddy travelers only.

Am I missing something? (Serious question)
