How do you figure that? LA 777 is losing SYD and LHR. You don't think that's gonna require some LA 777 bumps as well as SFO?

Bumping 777 West Coast, 787 IAH? This should be fun to watch. Even more pilots getting paid to do nothing, and others getting 150 hours a month.

I think Manpower finally got a clue, that they haven't got a clue. Even they can't figure out what to do now. Vacancy? Displacement?

Homina, Homina, Homina, Homina, Homina, Homina...................
My understanding is all this seeming confusion is interrelated with the F/A's contract that was predicted to be finished by now.

Apparently, now that their negotiations are going to mediation, the timeline for contract/ISL completion is far enough out in the future that they are going ahead with the original (i.e optimized) fleet plan. Unfortunately, this new plan is going to be more of a hardship on the FA's vice the temporary (i.e non optimized) fleet plan. Mgmt was willing to temporarily live with it until the F/A ISL, that's now not going to happen anytime soon.

I hope what I was told the (shameful) reason for the breakdown isn't true.

Do tell. What is the shameful reason?

Not appropriate (especially here) as it was information with more than one degree of separation. Threw it out there so if one is curious enough, they can probe (no pun intended) into it themselves. Myself, I'm curious how the Pension issue is going.

I'm just a <3 years on property line pilot so I know next to nothing. 2 things come to mind: it seems lots of FAs I talk with don't want a contract...on both sides. And I don't get how we're nickel and diming everything, don't have a technician or FA contract, but we're buying back stock.

I would recommend not getting your hopes up about potentially understanding more in the future. The only thing you will understand is when you see the same failed ideas being repeated every 6-8 years.

Positive rate, gear up..............

I just read in the news a couple of hours ago, United wants to get our on-time and reliability rankings up with Delta.

Their brilliant idea? More technology, and IT solutions.

APU off arrivals abound, saving us (arguably) a couple million a year. Meanwhile one server goes down for 81 minutes and it costs us conservatively $40 Million.

There doing stock buybacks because that is what Delta was/is doing.

You see, if your mgmt with millions in stock and options for more stock, your best way to get a raise without a "raise" in salary is to use company money to buy back stock which notionally raises the value of the outstanding shares and options and doesn't get the notice of the employees and ire of the shareholders because they benefit as well.
