Default UAL LAX Base

Anyone have an idea of how long it would take to hold LAX as a new-hire. How many years of reserve after that? Also what fleet is based there? Is it a pretty good mixture of flying?

Thanks!

1. Almost immediately
2. No way to tell how long on reserve.
3. 737/320/756/787/777(for now)
4. not as good as SFO. With the new way UA is going to schedule its crews and aircraft the flying may get worse/boring. LAX doesn't have a lot of destinations and if its all out and backs.......But, we as pilots don't know how this new scheduling technique is going to affect us yet.

Good luck getting an interview United is a great place to work.

There are unfufled vacancies for lax on both the 320/737. You can get it as a newhire. I was hired in April of this year and will be close to being a bottom line holder by December on the bus.

well its not necessarily the crew that is being routed out and back (as in day trips) its the ships. They will go LAX - DEN - LAX -SEA - LAX.....

Instead of LAX - SEA - DEN - DSM - ORD - EWR......

How this affects the trip mix is yet to be seen. What is known is that you will be going back and forth between a single base all day then lay over at an outstation. The next day you may go to another base and then outback to that base and so on. Or you may just spend the entire trip going back and forth to LAX. That is why I said the trip mix might not be that good, due to the lack of destinations out of LAX.

They are doing this to try and keep a snow storm in EWR from affecting the entire operation. The LAX crews should be isolated along with the planes flying out of LAX that day.

We obviously need layovers for the late night arrivals/early morning departures at outstations. However, I feel that this new scheduling will greatly increase day trips and 2 day trips and cut 4+ days significantly. Well see......
