If UAL buys JetBlue, I'll bet we could use their upper and middle management and all of their IT infrastructure. Just like....oh...we did that one....never mind.
(Nothing against JetBlue, we just suck, and have for years...) |
If you were hired at CAL in '07......

I highly doubt UAL will go through another merger.
I see the 25 used A319s coming faster than original planned an order for 50 A321 Neos and An order for 100-125 CS 100 and 300 series , cheap deal by the Canadians And a few more 777-300s since they are cheap for now Close to 985 or so total frames by 2020 with close to 250 WBs total 375... 737s 250 A319, 320,321,350s 51 767s 62 757s 10 747 50 787s 85 777s 100 C series Canadian |

Are the C series going to be operated by mainline?
(Note that the quoted fleet plan above is conjecture/rumor and not anything that has been publicly released.) |
Expect the 747 to retire as the 350 comes on line. I sure hope not but that is what I would expect.
The C series is a win-win on mainline property. RJ guys get hired at mainline, most likely start on that aircraft, quick upgrade if wanted, good protection for more senior FOs, option to bid captain if wanted (most likely a pay cut depending on which right seat at longevity) but QOL for living in base might be worth it. I hope we get them if that is the aircraft that will make us money and bring flying back to mainline. |

Plus, management gets to give themselves massive bonuses, and gold parachutes, or both. You can't give yourself a big bonus just by growing. I would put my money on Alaska as our next target, and Delta would go after Hawaiin. Just a guess. I wouldn't put any money on it. |

The only airlines JetBlue can merge with would be :southwest, Alaska, Hawaiian, spirt, frontier, virgin America.
The DOJ is already investigating DAL, UAL, AAL for price fixing. A low cost carrier is not going to be sucked up by another carrier who is just going to raise its fares. I use to work for Jetblue. I think the only airline to buy them is Southwest. That said under the PEA (which is in place until a CBA is voted in) allows Jetblue to sell up to 1/3 of the fleet without triggering a transactional event which means they could dump the 190's to UAL over 2-3 years while taking 320 deliveries. But once again New York and Massachusetts will not allow the only LLC with a strong northeast presence to be bought and raise fares for the voters. |
