Nice to see all the Widebody movement! Going to be interesting to see how it goes on the last bid with a fence! Best of luck all!

UAL T38 Phlyer 10-09-2015 10:33 AM

If I counted correctly, 240 Captains, and 370 F/Os!

Refresh our memory. When does the fence come down?

In orther words, the seats for the 787 will go to sCAL pilots and the TWO 747 Ca bids will go to sUAL pilots.

Whoa that's awesome
Now let's hope the profit sharing will stay intact during this 2 year extension talks
Because thats why they want the extension plain and simple

catIIIc 10-09-2015 11:59 AM

I dont think profit sharing will be on the table, the company needs FRMS relief to do want they want out of SFO. I am sure profit sharing is a non starter for the NC.

So now all the SCABs have nowhere to hide. Could get ugly with LUAL moving onto the 78.

A net of 23 to LCAL pilots which out of 12,287 pilots means this effects .18% of the entire pilot group. Plus anybody can bid the spots those pilots leave to bid fly the 787.

Once again the fence isn't really a big deal when there are 600+ other positions to bid.

Well the whale is CAL scab free. Somebody thought that was worth the sacrifice.

UALinIAH 10-09-2015 12:59 PM

I'm just ready for the fence to be down. One less rift in the pilot group. It's icing on the cake that some SCABs are hurt by senior pilots moving in.

Your military so I understand but your question will completely de rail this thread.

Basically a SCAB crossed the picket line during a strike and their lot in life is lower than whale ****.

Also from a mil background.....still no excuse for not knowing about scabs. a failure of due-diligence...IMHO

His ignorance is just the tip of the iceberg for us. Seriously, we have a ton of guys just itching to go full Marvin. Guys who've been here a while and choose to remain clueless about the ugly history of labor in 121 flying. Its astonishing to me, but they're there.

And when he says whale it isn't the 74.

The 747-400 or the 767-400?

The 767-400 is just a 767 that pays like a 400.

The 40, 777 Captain bids on the East coast will make a bunch of guys happy.

G-line, EWR 320 FO

Trying to make a bid decision...is there a way in CCS to see the seniority needed to hold a line at each of the bases? If not, any EWR Bus FOs out there?

The last person above the gline or each BES is published in PBS. I believe it's under the "documents" tab.

Flytyin 10-09-2015 06:01 PM

Found it. Thanks!

Thank you. Looks as though you are correct. I'll be a union guy for what it is worth...I did not realize there was a choice.

If there is a location to learn about these things...I'm all ears. I thought that is what the forum is for...perhaps not?

From Wooden Wings

From Wooden Wings. It's a start. Tells the events surrounding the UAL strike. Then research the POS Frank Lorezo and the CAL strike. You can see how the SCABs allowed him to keep CAL flying. SCABs are the lowest form of pilot on earth. They took a job that real pilots were walking the line trying to protect.

OldHrntDrvr 10-09-2015 07:53 PM

Cool. Thanks all. Ridicule accepted. No slack in the ready room...

Great attitude! And your analogy is apt. A you know, much of the banter and ridicule in a ready room is geared towards the health of the unit. Here on the forums in the digital world it is more difficult, but there are hundreds if not thousands available as resources. If you are up for some light reading I recommend "Flying the Line" vol 1&2. A good primer about scabs, unionism in general, and the origins of our union. OldHrntDrvr this would be a great discussion over beers!

Cheers

Where can you get the book or file with the names and pictures of the SCABS? I've looked online with no luck.

magneto 10-10-2015 08:20 AM

Don't be too hard on OldHrntDrvr, he doesn't know because no one told him.

I don't know what goes on in new-hire these days but back when I went through, we had ALPA guys come in and meet with us. They also treated us to some beverages at the bar that night. I came from an ALPA carrier and knew ALPA history but I didn't know the things specific to UAL.
I didn't know what a "slick-tie" was or why did some of the flight bags at TK have padlocks on them.
We have a lot of new hires on the property and lot more coming, we need to educate them before they get on the line.

Start by reading "Flying the Line." Part I and then Part II. Then all those other articles will make more sense. Your union rep should be able to get copies for you.
