Great, but that has absolutely nothing to do with the leverage it provides for the pilots. It is amazing how many pilots seem to have no conception of leverage or how we should use it.
747-400s would have helped global WB pilots, but Rick Dubinsky forced the company to park them until we got all kinds of contractual improvements. |
Love reading all the speculation here. Sadly, it was a done deal when the MEC voted to send it to MR. 73-27% yes. My no vote can't cancel 3 yes votes. We can only hope that the Delta notch up wording survives first contact with the enemy.

Bogeyman? Hardly. In my 30.5 years as a major airline pilot, this is the first real time that we have had true leverage. And we're going to just **** it away for 13%. The company is just loving this shortsightedness. When the company took us into bankruptcy, did they just take the parts of our contract that were the bare minimum to ensure a successful BK exit? No it was scorched earth because they had the leverage. Why should we now not turn the tables and get all of that back plus COLA? You think if another 9/11 happens the day after we approve this TA that they won't come after us with guns blazing? Vote the way you want to; I'm a solid no. We're going to look quite silly when Delta gets a new contract that far exceeds ours in non-payrate areas and we'll be stuck for 3 years in their wake.

I agree, now is the time. We just disagree with the course of action. I think we can have a much better QOL with opening the contract NOW, by turning down the TA. As I said in another reply, the pay raise would be nice, but for me, it's about work rules and QOL. This raise isn't enough for me to live with this contract another 2 years. |

I agree… anyone that thinks that voting no is going to get us a FULL contract sooner is spending too much time at the weed shop in DEN. Labor Relations is going to go back to Munoz and say, "we gave it a try boss"… and then we will be signing a contract in 2019 with very similar terms. They aren't going to give us a counter offer TA or come to the table earlier. Hope I'm wrong but think this is how it will play out.

Out of curiosity, when do the pilots vote?

Important: Check Your Membership Status Prior to TA Vote Opening Voting for the Tentative Agreement (TA) will open Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016. Under ALPA's voting rules, a pilot's membership status on the day prior to the opening of a ballot (Monday, January 4) will determine whether that pilot is eligible to vote. Please go to the Update Email/Contact Info link on the MEC website to verify your Classification and Member Standing. You will be eligible to vote if you are AC (active), GP (grievance pending), or EA (executive active) and in good standing. If you believe there is an error in either your Classification and/or your Member Standing, or you are unable to access your records, please contact [email protected] or call 1-888-359-2572, option 3, prior to the 5th of January. (Note: the ALPA offices are closed now for the holidays, you will only have Monday the 4th to contact them with questions concerning your status and eligibility to vote). |
