Default Thoughts on Vacation Bidding

Any thoughts from the pundits on number of vacation days to bid in annual vacation bidding. Why would anyone specify less than their full vacation number of vacation days ? Do people bid less than the full number on the annual vacation bid and then bid the remainder in the monthly vacation bidding?

Some people roll the dice and go for some monthly bidding but be forewarned, it's not guaranteed that you'll be awarded any monthly vacation. Any vacationed at the end of the year you'll be paid for but the company DOESN'T match your 16% B/C fund. ALPA advises you to take it all, but you do have the contractual right to roll the dice.

Where does it say the company won't pay the 16% on your unused vacation? I'm pretty sure they're supposed to pay it.

From my LEC171 update this week.

Annual Vacation Bidding
Annual vacation bidding for the 2016-17 vacation year begins January 11th. We strongly encourage you to bid all your vacation as vacation forfeiture does not pay the 16% PRAP, and monthly vacation bidding has proven to be less then optimal. Click here for the bidding guide and watch your email for more information from the SSC.

Nope, company won that battle. No 16% on vacation forfeiture. Hence, why the union recommends that you elect all vacation days.

We posted at the same time. Your's is better though since you have a quote from the union.

Cheers,

That's the best info I've gotten this year!

Just like FMC updates and ACARS 2.0, it was never explained to me why there was both annual AND monthly vacation bidding.

1st year on property...
How do we request vacation? Should I request multiple timeframes to ensure I get the days?
If I don't get the days requested, can I request other days later to make sure I get them?
When can I request vacation?

Sorry for all the questions...
