The 747-400 won't be advertised because they anticipate any bidding out will fix the future surpluses and any need for new will be backfilled.

So if you want 747-400 bid it even if it doesn't show up.

Quick question from a newb looking to swap DCA 737 for SFO 737: this vacancy bid says that the lateral activation date can happen from February on, even though the effective date on the bid is 31 March 16. When would my activation date happen if I bid on this cycle? Feb sometime or 31 March?

Also, what is the over/ under on another vacancy bid a month from now as we approach summertime? Will these vacancy bids go away? I've seen monthly bids since I started last summer but I don't know what happens as we approach summer. I have to activate before June but ideally not before late march.

I'm moving east coast to west coast and need to move in June (kids and school). Ideally, I don't want to activate too soon because of the commute and I need the transfer days to get the family moved (has to be used within 90 days of activation).

Looking for advice. Thanks.

I would bet you would not activate until April at a minimum. An email to planning is always advised but may not be helpful in determining an exact date.
Hard to judge as it depends on needs and staffing levels but it seems like a majority of guys get activated a month after the effective date, so end of April or probably for the May bid period.

I was surprised this bid came out already, so hard to tell when another shows up, most likely in less than 2 months another will show up.

If one were to bid the 777 in EWR when could they expect to go to training with the backlog of 777 training from the last two bids? I have vacation at the end of March and don't want to loose it.

Thanks

I got the 777 in bid 16-01. I start third week in February. I had maybe 15-20 guys junior to me in the bid. Some of them trained before me, but I think the rest have been scheduled for training.. I'm not sure how many 777 bids were awarded the next bid. I'd say end of March, you would still be safe for vacation.

Does anyone remember approximately what the g-line percentage was in Denver last spring/summer? or is there any way to find this figure?

I went back and looked at the 777 bids from the last bid. They have over 50 guys to train. If this current bid trains before May, it will be a miracle.

I think it goes into monthly vacation and then, if not used, goes into the retirement account.
