You can put an explanation on your application in the remarks. Not that hard... There is no robo scoring- its all done by a human being who takes that stuff into account.
You can put you were an astronaut with 3 PhDs in the remarks and it will never be seen if you don't get past the algorithm. |
OK, let me get some facts out regarding Delta and United.
For Delta, all applications are manually scored by two retired pilots. Their only job at Delta is to score applications. Two pilots will score your application and they take the average of the two. There is no computer algorithm scoring at Delta. For United, all applications are scored by the computer algorithm. When BK needs to fill a class (let's say 30) he will select the top 30 candidates from the application pile. He will review the application for accuracy and then send out an email invite. I talked to BK at NGPA and WAI. One thing to remember is do not lie or inflate your application to get ahead of others. This is the biggest problem he is seeing right now. If you do either one, you are done with United forever. He will not tolerate it at all. There are been a few that have been caught at the interview. Honesty and integrity are huge. Please don't make this mistake. |

It would be strange if those were the only metrics they use. Perhaps there are others that we don't know about...
Or, like many people I've talked to, perhaps they didn't divulge their "ace in the hole." I knew a person who got hired at a major as a regional FO. They told me they were an intern and had already had the TBNT, so the second interview was a formality. Turns out, their uncle was a respected chief pilot. There is usually more to the story than we know. Life lesson :p |

Considering a couple of guys I know that have been hired at UA, I find this very hard to believe. There is no way they were at the top of a pile of 10,000. Guys with 6000tt, no LCA, online degrees, non military, little if any volunteer work...

For some people an online degree is all they can do. You don't know everyone's circumstances. How are you to attend a brick and mortar campus while working an aviation job and raising a family?
Further, no need to get defensive, I did not say I have anything against online degrees, but it has seemed the airline to do. However, since you brought up, all degrees are not created equal. I'm not going to argue that any further. |

Please reread my post. I never said I know everyone's circumstances. I specifically know my friends' circumstances, you know, the people I was talking about?

I would say that high number of new hires that I have flown with from the regionals have online degrees...most from Utah Valley.

I didn't bring up the fact that all degrees are not equal, You did but I agree with what you said about that. What you did originally say though sounded like a dig at the guys you kno who have had to go online.
