Hmmm....I use safari on the iPad to book milage flights with no problem. Just for the record though, 250000 miles is not that much, unless it was all done in one year.

Really? How many applications are on file at United? You think they have the time to go to APC and research posts to identify which applicants are posting? Unless you are using your real name or other easily identifiable information I do note believe United would be able to identify someone posting on APC.

Yea...but it works in reverse manor than you are thinking. Someone makes a statement that catches someone's eye. They start digging into old posts and start putting the pieces together. Let's say they see a post about getting hired 10 years ago with 400 total time and 30 hours multi engine. Then they see a reference to a hockey team associated with a school with a flight program. Then maybe they come across a post talking about flying a 4 engine wide body at certain airports. You cross reference the rewards program...You start putting it all together, you can figure it out.

I didn't mean to start a food fight. I was trying to offer some advice to someone because I thought it would help. I shouldn't have called anyone a moron...I'm sure that's not the case. I stand by my original advice. This is a place many pilot applicants reference for interview information. Don't shoot yourself in the foot.

I didn't realize that our Recruiters and Hiring staff had training equivalent to that of a Federal Agent or Criminal Investigator in regards to cross-referencing multiple posts on APC and connecting those posts to 1 of 10,000 applications on file.

Sarcasm aside, on the Flight Info Forum, there were some veritable douche-bags spouting off all sorts of garbage. Other forum members worked diligently to "out" them and try to blackball them. I do not know if they were successful or not, but there did seem to be a concerted effort to identify some of the worst.

I think the advice is spot on. Complaining about customer service in this UAL subsection is akin to griping to the auto worker that the coffee at the car dealership sucked. Why would he care and what can he do about it?

Why risk a potential career? Find some pole to air your grievances instead. But, you are all adults. Do whatever you want.

It's just possible that he is right. CS still sucks, and mostly it's because middle management is still stuck in Smizek's vision of screw everything up if it costs money. Front line employees still haven't gotten the tools they need to work competitively with Delta. IT is a nightmare, and will be for a long time.

Given all that, it's also possible that he see's a big up side potential at UAL. We are this screwed up and still making money? What would happen if we got a new CEO that valued employees as an important resource?

We have potential. Just gotta do it. I don't see any problem with his post. Honest and frustrated yes, duplicitous? Not what I see.

Was I trying to get blacklisted from UAL's recruiting department? Of course not. Could I have just kept this incident to myself? Yup.

I have plenty of reasons for wanting to work for United. I also have reasons I wouldn't like to work there. Ultimately, the good outweigh the bad and I believe it would be a great career. For the sake of UA's employees and millions of passengers, I sincerely hope the customer service gets better. It's atrocious. That simply cannot be denied. If United HR sees this, tracks me down and determines without any trace of doubt who I am, and thinks that they absolutely shouldn't hire me because I told the truth on a pilot web board, well, that sucks. I figured the rank and file of UA's pilots could agree with me on the poor customer service and perhaps offer some tips to achieve better service. I was appalled at what I received.

I chose UA as my carrier of choice for years as a commuter buying my own tickets, or have them bought by my company. I have seen the good and the bad. The bad has become more and more prevalent however; so much so that 18 months ago I made a switch to Delta for all of my flights. Without question, from the aircraft interiors to the service I receive, it has been a better experience. The only reason I fly UA now is to use up old miles. So should I only want to work at Delta? That thinking is short-sighted at best. UA does have a tremendous possible upside, and I hope it sees it. It needs top down leadership in both the board and the MEC. With a 25 year career ahead of me, I think it's possible I can see great things there.

Was this the wrong venue to vent my frustrations? Perhaps. This is also the only forum I actively participate in. I don't have the time for others. I read flyertalk, but rarely post, and the one golfing forum I read didn't seem appropriate. I guess I could have went on Instagram or Twitter and bashed United publicly, but I didn't want to go there. I don't think I am moron. If I was a moron, I would still be paying UA $15,000+ a year for poor service.

That said, my app is up to date, and if they give me a shot, I'll let the Hogan decide how stupid I am.

Great post and spot on. We do suck and I truly hope that we can turn the ship around before it hits the rocks. As for getting hired, wish you well as we truly need way less complacent yes men and way more pragmatists to let the Emperor know that he hath no clothes on.
