Quick recruiting related question if anyone is in the know: generally speaking, is there any rhyme or reason to how long it can/may take to receive a call once you have a CP recommendation? Are these recs guarantees you'll be called within a few months or just another addition to one's point total? Thanks.

Under the new CP rec system, cp recs have become very competitive to acquire. My friends that did get one under the new system, all were called. Because they are so limited, I think you can expect an invite to take the hogan test within a couple of months.

Good luck!

The contract has all kinds of safe guards and provisions for vacancy bids. There are almost no protections for laterals. One would think that the same safeguards would be applied, but that is not the case.

It greatly depends on now short the base is you are coming from as to how fast the company will activate the lateral. If they are short at your current base, they'll keep you there longer based on the needs of the service.

There have been several cases of waiting up to 6 months past the bid activation date for a lateral to be activated. If it takes an unreasonable time, talk to your council reps, then have a talk with your chief pilot with representation. This has usually done the trick, but they have to give manpower planning a kick in the butt to get it done.

Thank you, sir! I am grateful for the reccomendation received, and out of respect I am not going to make any follow-up inquiries with the CP. It's been a few months and honestly I wasn't certain if the crickets were a result of the holiday season recruiting slowdown or if a rec isn't as valuable as I had presummed. Cheers.

Keep updating your app. Make sure your medical is not expired. Keep doing the things an off the street guy with no contact would need to do. They can;t see your rec if you don't have an ATP (box checked) or your medical is expired.

(My invite went to SPAM)

Admittedly, I haven't been diligently checking my spam box for the invite. What is the address the invite comes from? I've gotten emails regarding job fairs; does that mean it should come through without going to spam? Is there a tactful way to check with the hiring department to see if an invite was sent out but somehow missed?

To your last question, no. Calling/emailing and asking if they sent you an invite would be... tacky, for lack of a better word. And would probably do more harm than good for your chances of ever getting the invite. Just keep a close eye on your inbox and spam folder.

Good luck

The first email that is inviting you to take part in the selection process (lets you know that you should be expecting the Hogan to come next) comes from [email protected].

Thank you both for your responses.

From December SSC (System Schedule Committee) report:

New Hires
The company New Hire plan is as follows: 19 in January and 20 in February. They did not publish any numbers beyond that point because they haven’t updated their plan.

Future Vacancies
The current backlog on 777 Transition Training is into March and any remaining need is not
needed until Spring unless a major change is made by Network Planning. So, at this point in
time, the company is not planning to discuss the next vacancy bid until the January SSC
meeting.

I suspect the deferral of 61 Guppies is gonna leave a mark! :(
