If it's not in the city for a downtown layover, seek self help, take transportation downtown and return, and expense it. Don't forget to expense the 15% tip.

Walking down the Strip is the best part of the trip! Where else can you see a costumed Hello Kitty give a handy to Professor Snape in the bushes next to Caesar's?

Never been to Vegas have you...
Yea the SLS is not in the best part of town. The old Sahara...plenty nearby however. You want the best Thai food restaurant in the country, Lotus of Siam on Sahara! Just about walking distance. Very short cab ride. Just don't judge a book by its cover, if you just look at the outside of the restaurant you'd never go in.

When you're back at the Westin, try the barbeque joint in the Ellis Island Casino across the street on Koval next to the Motel 6. Good microbrews (brewed on site) and best ribs in LAS. If you're not a drinker, their root beer rocks as well.

Come hungry.

I'll second that advice.

I like the food. You just need to be prepared for the smoke.

I was not happy about going to SLS but it's a very nice hotel, nice pool, mellow casino really good restaurant, about a $5/$6 uber ride to main part of the strip, was pleasantly surprised.
