From the beginning of the 787 design Boeing had a short course for differences between the 777 and 787. I believe I heard the min Boeing course is 3 days and I'm not sure how many sims. Boeing was trying to duplicate the 767/757 abilities for pilot staffing.
There never was a Boeing short differences course for 747, 777. For regulatory purposes the airlines can equal or exceed the manufacturer's approved training and in UAL/CAL's case they exceed the min Boeing differences course. |

Going from 47 or 87 to the 777 does not require a full course. It's a differences course for both. Still gonna keep TK busy for a while that is true, and if history is any indicator some folks will be able to game the system and stay at home waiting for training for many months.
: Sunvox, it's never to late to admit that what you just said is factually adjacent to a Bigfoot sighing while spraying chemtrails from the alien mothership. Your statement comes straight from the grassy knoll. Besides that, it all good though. |

Requal is different than requirement for the full course. I believe you can requal on a piece of equipment if you have been on it up to the previous 1 year. Outside of that, need the full course.
You need a full course when going from the 747 to 777. Granted, a Boeing is a Boeing, is a Boeing. Should be able to sleep through much of it. The only short course I know is the 777 to 787. Don't know about the other way. Also, as far as I know, the first time anyone is going to fly a 777-300er, will be with people in it. Going to have fun trying to figure out how to land the sucker! Only a little on line differences--and the last CQDL already "Trained" us on how to use the video system to not run off a taxi way. |
Company just approved the short 787 to 777 course.... less than a week ago.

My Sim partner for the 787 was a 747 guy and that was full course. Every 747 guy I have met was full course. With that said the
777->787 pilots were a short 2 week differences course. There is a Short course for current and qualified 777 to 787. I was not aware of a short course for 787 to 777. If so, that must be new |
