I've never heard of anyone doing what you stated above. That's just plain weird. I've never called my unit looking for work, and I don't know anyone in their right mind who does.

It's not an "ethics" issue. It's just a PBS staffing issue. Our pilots take legitimate military leave.

I also wouldn't go around spreading false rumors that guys are calling units on a Monday stating that stuff about looking for work. It doesn't happen and it gives people an unnecessary bad rap/rep.

It is a constant struggle to keep the balls in the air. The balancing act between military, family, and civilian employer is tough enough.

Would like to buy you a beer one day. Well said. I have given similar advice to the FNG's. Not as well as you said it. I saw allot of CAL managers using their check airman for intel on what guys were doing and not doing, as well as their stool pigeons. Even seen them trying to manipulate union reps into saying too much. I don't think you can trust any management types, or anyone close to management types. Just do your job and keep it quiet. There is even a limit as to what I would talk about to the union system staffing peeps and their military liaison committee. Loose lips sink ships.

Even the secretarial staff in the flight offices should not be trusted. Drop off the orders and leave. No chit chat.

There are guard CO's with secretaries? If so I was definitely in the wrong service.

It's an additional duty at some units. Order clerk answers the CO's phone. Ops Desk girl answers the CO's phone. Orderly room may pitch in. Depends on the unit. Most just screen the calls so they don't have to fool with the chair flying managers.
