I've never heard of anyone doing what you stated above. That's just plain weird. I've never called my unit looking for work, and I don't know anyone in their right mind who does. It's not an "ethics" issue. It's just a PBS staffing issue. Our pilots take legitimate military leave. I also wouldn't go around spreading false rumors that guys are calling units on a Monday stating that stuff about looking for work. It doesn't happen and it gives people an unnecessary bad rap/rep. It is a constant struggle to keep the balls in the air. The balancing act between military, family, and civilian employer is tough enough. |
