Painful to read. Flying the 75/76 and find the box a little less capable than the very robust MD11 system, but the planes are a delight to fly and land. How did the industry decide to hang their hats on the ugliest one from the litter?

Boeing basically gave them away at fire sale prices. The thing has been in production since 1967, not like theyre expensive to build. Or "next gen" for that matter. The most advanced thing on the plane is LED landing lights.

That and my prior experience in the 320 made me think a heavier version with the same wing might get a small window between Mach buffet and low-speed buffet.
I remember doing max takeoff weight in a new 321 and being at 290 numerous times. It was very tropical though (ISA +10-20).
