I am have perplexed by who gets calls and who doesnt. The one thing I have kinda noticed is that if you dont have any internal recs then you dont get called. I only had internal recs with United and after getting very little Part 121 experience I got the call.

Take everything I say with a grain of salt, I had apps in for about 2 years with no calls so what the heck do I know.

Congrats! Any idea what helped you overcome the 7yrs of UAV time? Did the 121 time do it, or something else?

There is currently no shortage at good carriers...the regionals and several others without competitive contracts are seeing proof of a shortage.

Availability dates can certainly change, but with the current interview cycle to class date...and a commitment I have for military reserve training (non flying) I feel the 6 months is realistic. I doubt United would ask me to start groundschool on Monday....but you can bet I would make class!

The 121 time probably did help, it's another block on airline apps that gets checked, which I assume adds more points to the overall scoring. Probably just a small piece though, finding any way to fill other blocks and score as many points as possible to end up on the spreadsheet Bill Kennedy spoke about at the event. I'm guessing luck was also in the equation.

Update:

I was a day two, AM invite.
Got the Hogan in Feb.
Interview May 16th
CJO May 25th

121 RJ Capt. 11,700TT 7,500TPIC, 9 internal rec, no LCA or extra work stuff. Just a line pilot that prefers to play softball 3-nights a week and bid trips around home life.

For all those still waiting...keep the faith! I didn't give up and it finally happened.

Curious how many vet event folks are awaiting calls still. I was a day 2 guy as well as most of my squadron mates were. Thought it went great but never got a call. 4500 total, 3x IP and 2x EP, used Checkedandset. Never got anything from United. I ended up getting a call out of the blue to fly Global Expresses for an awesome Part 91 operation instead and jumped on it. Good luck to those still waiting.

If you are separating from the military don't expect a call. I've heard that United is intentionally screening out people who aren't close to retiring because they don't want to have to deal with those who will be reservists.

Kind of a shame because I really liked the recruitment event and was hoping to go to United. Now I'm just upset because I spent $1,000 going to that event.

What about those of us who aren't planning on going to the guard or reserves? Expect to be discriminated against purely based off of how much time you've served in the military.

What is this based on? Discriminated against? Like the longer you were in the more likely you'll get a call?
