Default Bidding 2017/2018 Vacation Strategy

If a pilot is scheduled to retire in February 2018, should the pilot load up on Vacation in January and February (easy to get) or should he push it out to April of 2018 and cash out vacation at retirement?

Remember, I think that being paid for vacation, no B or C plan contributions.
