Second...........I think the company will attempt to weasel out of their agreement to pay us in a timely fashion.
Third..........I am glad ALPA is on top of it and ready to take care of business.
Fourth........The pilots smell a fish. They read the little management snake in the grass letter and saw it as bogus. I am more than sure that when management and ALPA sat down and negotiated this they discussed tentative dates of ratification and worked through the scenarios to make sure both parties were on the same page. Clearly management is trying to another end run around our good faith efforts of negotiating. Perhaps you read it most incorrectly.

Real ballers have a money gun...

I can understand where the ambiguity lies in the definition of second bid period. I'm glad ALPA is trying to exctract all they can, but I don't think it's worth going to war over. Keep those rounds chambered. Guys need to settle down. Focus that anger on more existential threats, like NAI. Some guys are screwing themselves into the ceiling over a few percentage points for one month, yet I doubt lifted a finger to write or call their reps over bigger problems.

I don't believe the "hold back" was ever settled and none of us have seen that money, nor any interest on that. That's real money the company really owes us. I know ALPA and the company are still engaged on this, but no updates in quite a while.
No moneys issued to date on the LTD over-payments for the former CAL pilots. I think that needs to get fast-tracked.
The NAI issue is an ALPA National issue. None of our pilot emails to anyone has an effect. Unless all the pilots in the service of ALPA are empowered to take some sort of action (something big), then nothing will happen. The Democratically controlled executive branch and it's "labor friendly" NMB and DoL and DoJ didn't seem to matter. I think something much more effective than an email campaign will be required. If that was our strategy, then it was doomed before we hit the send buttons.

I think if my union says UAL owes us something, weather it's in the form of date of signing pay, or in the form of benefits earned then I'd say we are owed those moneys/benefits. My union speaks for me, both at the negotiating table and at the grievance table.
I don't think it's chest pounding to assert an affirmative position on the matter.
Our pilot negotiators acted on our behalf to get us the best possible deal and do it on the company's time-line and not ours. We met the company at the bargaining table, we agreed to the extension that management suggested. Therefore, I think we, the pilots are owed the benefit of the doubt on this one. The pilots weren't the ones begging for a deal, management was.
I tend to believe ALPA grievance. They have an excellent track record so far when it comes to contract compliance. How many grievances did that guy Todd Insler win when we got this new contract? basically Tom Stivala, and that guy Jackson Martin lost their labor relations jobs because he wiped the floor with their booties on a daily basis.

For pilots that don't trust management, they likely have good reason to be skeptical of management assertions and positions.
Been doing this far too long to just roll over and play dead when management starts signing their little love-tune.
I used to get stuck flying with scabs that sound allot like you. Glad I don't have to do that anymore.

None of us is as worthless as all of us.
Did you vote in the election? After all, what's one worthless vote/voice?

1) If I were to apply and get hired elsewhere how long it would take to break even in pay and retirement not including any bonuses.
2) Over the course of a career how far behind I will be if I stay where I am.
I appreciate the info.
