Slick. Cool ol' gal. Back when men were men, engines were round, and jets weren't video games. It's sad how many folks have let their airmanship deteriorate.

I remember reading in one of UAL's retirement books a Capt wrote, "well, I've flown from the radio range to the magenta line." I know I'm in the minority, but I don't believe it's all been for the better.

Regarding FMA callouts, if the company says so, then we should. We might not agree but if you think it's a pain now, just wait until you crawl into the simulator next time. I do find it ironic that there is such concern to verbalize FMA's during critical phases like cruise and top of descent, but not flare, idle, rollout during an an autoland when the jet is 30' off the runway and you can't see bupkis.

"MAN FLX SRS RWY" baby!!!

Or, if enough people file FSAP's perhaps they'll retract it? Don't care about how it will affect my sim ride as I'm not risking getting violated for a bunch of verbal nonsense.

The Airbus fleet utilizing the callouts for years says this is here to stay.

With the caveat it is mandatory below 3k' on take off, workload permitting climb/Cruz/decent, and approach mode changes.

Common sense obviously needs to apply when there is more critical communication to be done.

First place you'll see the flex temp has dropped off after the "check thrust" call before the ECAM dings.

I guess we're a lowest common denominator airline now regarding training. By far, the most ridiculous change I've seen to date and I guess the guys on the fifi have no problem being treated like Captain Sum Ting Wong?

I would offer that le fifi is a bit of a different animal since the throttles and sticks don't move. During the critical phases of flight let's just say, it's a bit more critical.

Agree completely and that's why the one size fits all approach isn't necessary on the 737. From the previous comments I guess we just shut-up and accept unnecessary and ridiculous changes without feedback at the new United.
