Is that drive time normal during that time of day?

I don't want to sound like a company suckup (I'm sure I'll get some incoming for this), but look at this from the company's point of view. How would you plan for last minute sick calls? I'd love to read a workable alternative.

I'm not going to lob grenades at you 😜but as a commuter a FS assignment would be better for me. I'm coming in anyway. At least it's only for 4 vs. 14 hours. And duty starts right away; they can't drag the day out to 18-19 hrs.

I certainly agree there isn't a one size fits all solution. Just hope our negotiation peeps look into some possible improvements the next time around.

After all; if a pilot isn't complaining about something they're probably dead!

I'm also a commuter. I have a car in base which helps considerably for SCs.

Ya, its SFO, usually takes me 1:50 no traffic. The traffic clause in the contract is very nice.

That's insane! I hear nightmare stories like that from guys in LAX all to often which makes me feel ok about my 50 minute commute flight in vs being "local". But you're right, that traffic clause is pretty solid!

Ya man, its nuts, we are leaving Cali anyways, too many people, and way too pricey for homes and taxes. Ill take RSV in DEN any day of the week.

That's a bummer about IAH! The 756 flying in DEN is awesome!

I see what you did there

I continue to pick up short calls like skittles. After the first 2, it pays an hour for each unused so you can earn some serious beer money above guarantee. My record is 10. No shenanigans so far, other than getting released early from SC to be assigned another SC the next day. Which means more beer money!
