Quick question. I only ask this due to the small size of the thread but, do all new hires go into the pool or are some going directly to training? I imagine if that is the case then like every other decision / factor in this business theres hardly any rhyme or reason why one would got to the pool and another wouldn't. Hope thats not confusing. Thanks.

There are stories of some being offered class dates on the spot. Someone who has gone through recently would have to verify.
You'll learn not to ask "why" around here. No one has answers to things they do.

My understanding is that some have received the immediate CJO and class date after the interview. It is all based on the total of your scores for application, sim, interview etc. This total score also determines your depth in the pool. Each class is selected from the highest scores in the pool at that time.
Once again, this is just my understanding of the process based on these forums and what I have been told at job fairs and my interview.

Trying to bump this thread and see if anyone has any recent updates on the current UPS pool.
I interviewed beginning of July 2018 and received my pool letter 2 weeks later. Still waiting on class date...

Just interviewed last week, so for anyone interested, they are still actively interviewing. I also had a friend interview last week and another going in Oct.
I know someone in indoc now that received their pool letter after 1 week and received a call the next day (heavy mil & some 121 regional time). He told me they have people in the class that had immediate offers and another that was in the pool over 400 days.
One of my employee friends said he was given info that there were 130 in the pool, but that number is basically irrelevant as you have no idea how those people scored (or yourself for that matter) or what their availability might be like.
I’m anxiously awaiting an email or call from the 502 like many others. Good Luck to all!

Posted before, but in case it’s useful, fellas...
Interviewed in May and waited 7.5 weeks to get a pool letter (maybe lost in the rumored shake up, idk). Received a call w/ CJO and class date 2 wks and 1 day after the email. Based on anecdotal evidence from myself and friends, it seems to me that your background/experience (all the things all the majors care about...hours, instructor/check airman experience, safety training, leadership experience, etc.) makes a huge difference in your pool depth.
I knew several guys who interviewed after me and got the pool email well before I did. Then, I got the CJO call before they did. Ultimately, they’re in class before me based upon availability dates. All that is to say that each of us had a period of extended wait that was longer than the others, and it was nerve wracking; but, we just had to be patient and let the process play out. And I know, easier on this side than where you’re at. Best of luck!

Interviewed early May, waited 7.5 wks for the pool letter (maybe got lost in the shake up...idk). Received CJO / class date call 2 wks and a day after that. Had friends who interviewed weeks after me that received the pool letter weeks before me, then waited to get the CJO call until weeks after I did. Moral of my story is that each of us had an extended period of waiting that the others didn’t and it was nerve racking; however, there’s nothing to be done except staying patient and allowing the process to play out. Best of luck!
