Default Commute to CVG or IND to get to SDF ever??

Folks, I was curious if anyone has had to use the neighboring cities to get to SDF on commutes? If so, how often have you had to do this? I've also heard rumors that UPS has a contract with one of the rental car companies for a flat rate one way service. Any truth to this?

Not that I’ve ever heard. Indy and Cincy aren’t really any easier to get to than SDF. Gate agents in SDF are very friendly with UPS guys commuting if/when they can’t go on UPS flights.

Yes, it has probably happened.

At least once or twice in a year, or career.

We have an Avis discount, I wouldn't call it a "contract".

Just in case you get hired ...

Its I-65 (always under construction) from KIND, go south for 1.5 - 2 hours until you see the signs for SDF, look left, our parking lot is east of the airport. If you get to Bullitt county, you went too far.

KCVG is closer, but more turns. I-71, I-264(the Watterson) to I-65 or I-71, I-64, I-65 ... either would work.

But I digress ... its a million dollar career, and its worth a drive from CVG or IND if necessary. Even without the discount.

Expect for one AA (prior USAir) male employee, middle age, Spanish decent, never smiles, and has it out for pilots in general. JS committee knows about him. Likes to deny boarding because you weren’t there in time to check in, but yet tells you he’s too busy 30 mins before boarding to check you in.

Otherwise I would agree, people at the SDF airport are generally very nice to deal with.

I've used BNA twice in a little over a year...only because southwest has a non stop from my hometown and I had a rare non commutable weekend trip. It was fairly easy and a one way car through Costco was in the $50-75 range. IND and CVG are a little closer, but, typically requires a connection from some hub from pretty much anywhere. I can't see this being a regular occurrence for anyone...but, it's an option.

I once had a deviation home go sideways and ended up jumpseating into Nash Vegas and renting a car.

Trap with the UPS Avis rate is its low, but charges miles for one-way trips (this is new-ish?) so the rental cost me a C-note. It was worth getting home a lot earlier, though...

Just used Avis one way from SDF-CVG. $86.00. I've also used Uber. $96.00. I remember when Comair had 4 flights a day.
