Default We passed 3000!

According to one of the Bros who keeps unofficial numbers, we surpassed the 3000 mark. We'll see if hiring keeps pace with our retirements.

Im guessing that after unexpected retirements are factored in we will drop back below 3000. We may pass it eventually, but I’ll believe it when I can hold captain.

I think at 3000 we get another at large IPA rep.

Not if momentary, which it will be. I do give our employer credit for 50 NH is August though.

All sarcasm aside, I’m guessing that we will need that additional at large rep within a year or less. The CEO may want to “sweat the system”, but she will need bodies to maximize profit off the jets already ordered and delivered. Combine that with our retirement wave and hiring will only be increasing for the next five plus years or so.

15 June EBlast speaks to projected headcount by the end of the year; we’ll see where we end up but there’s 20+ airframes left to be delivered in the next 28 months.

Brother, I am a pragmatist, and while I have stated a “cautious” support for Carol, I understand the deep hate for Davis. UPS will only hire what they absolutely must. Every base/seat (except one) reports JA calls almost daily, the question is how long will it last. Carol is being cautious in her capacity approach, as no one really knows how long the sugar high will last, maybe indefinite, maybe temporary, we as Brown airman have complete interest in growing our niche, but as we all know, the bureaucrats run the show. If the Air side makes them more money, they will invest and pay attention to it. If not, we will be “just another” business unit.

Which base doesn’t report JA’s? Just curious.

I am hopeful that this drug deal we struck with management for extra lift over the next couple months drives a need for more aircraft than we currently have on order. Unfortunately, I do tend to think that the sugar high may indeed be temporary. It’s great that we have historic pricing power, but that also means that there will be both room for and strong incentive for new entrants into the Pacific routes. If the 777 freighter conversion is affordable and the feedstock plentiful, we could see the ACMI side of the industry moving into this space aggressively. It’s all completely out of our hands and I can’t say I waste much time out of the cockpit worrying about it. It does make for entertaining chatter on long flights.
