Default Former UPS manager at Allegiant

We just hired a former UPS guy as our Director of Flight Training and Standards at Allegiant. Apparently he held several management positions over there including Regional Chief Pilot, Fleet Training Manager 747/MD11, and Fleet Standards manager 727. Any experiences with him? Good guy or BOHICA?

(Had to remove the name and initials to satisfy the APC sky gods).

Never met him but would say Good guy. Internal message board is discussing this and not a bad comment yet.

Don’t know him personally but this is from a good friend of mine whose judgment I trust, he knew him pretty well. Checked the story with another buddy who was also furloughed, he agreed.

_____
”He’s alright when times are good and he needs you to keep moving boxes (or people).
He wasn’t very helpful to those who’re getting furloughed way back when but overall he’s ok.
Some of the furloughees were trying to remove the vmc-only-circling restriction on their types. Many foreign carriers won’t accept such a restriction. Back then he’s involved with our training dept (he’s the boss) and removal of such a restriction would’ve only taken 30 minutes in the sim and our POI was onboard. Also, some of the furloughees were still doing their bi-annual CQs and the circling restriction removal could’ve been included in their regular training events.

Apparently your new director of training didn’t do much to help. In fact said it wasn’t his problem they’re all getting furloughed. He’s a nice guy to deal with in daily operations. However, in the end he’s just a manager who cares about one, and one thing only - his own pocket.”
