Unfortunately we don't work for an airline, more like an outfit

Last delivery is N633UP, next March, which is the end of the 28 orders. 747-400 was announced in 2005, first revenue flight in late 2007. 747-8 announced in Oct 2016, first revenue flight was 11 months later. Timeline can be shortened if necessary, though the -8 had instructor core in place.
The issue with the 777 is the ULD containers. The 777 containers have a more severe slope due to the top of the main deck.
As such, the 747 ULDs won't fit on the 777, and the 777 ULDs leave volume behind on the 747.
Not many new freighter options available, only 767F and 777F. However, there was a news report of Boeing offering a 777XF to Qatar earlier this month.

Do we really need a new type to replace the MD? Does the MD have unique capabilities that the 74 doesn’t have?

Let’s just buy 40 more 747s and call it even :)

That 747 ship has sailed…so lets just do 60 767s. 😉

I’ve long thought we would wind up buying more 767s as the MD replacement by default. It makes sense in a lot of ways from the company’s perspective (more scheduling flexibility) and no new type to deal with. From an IPA perspective it equals more pilots, which is good. So…we will wait until Boeing shuts the 76 line down and then try to buy a bunch.

I’m hoping for pax 747-8i buys & conversions from desert storage. If UPS doesn’t get them, Connie will.

Doubt it. I think the 777 will be the future for K4.

Im gonna make a wager and say the MD-11s are getting replaced by the brand new low time MD-10s that just got parked by another operator
