Boeiing published a fix with an updated bearing design years ago. And frankly ... you could just install a new bearing of the old design. It clearly is good for 1 cycle. Short on parts? when you remove the engines in the boneyard, pull the bearing and put it on the next ship.
FedEx complied with the bulletin yet they are still parked. |

MD is gone, mgrs will repo any birds that make it airborne 1 last time but prob cheaper and easiest to disassemble on site. Either way, worth debating?

absolutely not, who gives a @&$ what they do with the airframes now. No IPA pilots put at risk any longer, let’s focus on the big picture….industry leading contract, part 117, denied premiums, etc.

Each MD11 that isn't replaced with a 767 means 10 fewer pilots needed.
Nobody gonna get f-bombed, but since we know our definition of "appropriate staffing" differs, that means hiring and movement is delayed that much longer. |
I'm still thinking another airplane will be announced at some point in the near(?) future, it could be more B767s. But there is likely already a need for a Group V airplane (A330/B777/A350/B787 etc) at some point with our oldest 747-400s showing their age. By definition, no Group V (i.e. wingspan > 171 ft) will fit on the wing parking spots at Worldport, so any widebody freighter (except B767) will have to park on ramps 9 or 11. There is also an SDF master plan with a new ramp 8 as a possibility as well.

New fleet? Unlikely. |

No chance that FedEx keeps their MD-11’s now.
