Go sit at the wonderful Cafeteria in SDF at 3am and eat the slop they serve and get back to us. usually in the sleep room the IPA won for me at that time if I'm doing a hot. I live in SDF and bid RSVA or turns so I'm rarely there anyway. Shaggy likes to complain about time off yet chooses to commute. It's a good to great job but you have to prepare yourself for it differently than other jobs. The sad thing is you self-centered babies take it personally. UPS isn't out to screw pilots. They don't build the lines to make it suck for Shaggy. We are a nameless cog in their operation and I prefer it that way. Call fatigued if you're too tired to operate. The cimplant and IPA are both stressing that. And if it's too miserable why not apply at Delta? They're hiring tons. American, United too. You could be making comparable pay pretty soon and upgrade sooner! Lol. |

The sleep Room that has windows next to every loader and Van Honking as they drive by every 20 seconds? Wonderful. Yes, I like the sleep rooms better than the lazy boys, but they should ALL be inside rooms. But since your doing Hot, your special. But you still have to live in Louisville with the awesome pot holed streets and two Malls built a mile apart from each other in 1970. What were they thinking? Oh yea, it's Kentucky they weren't.

Shaggy and L'ill - so opposites do attract after all?! ;)
As far as working here - I don't think it's as great as some describe it but neither do I think it's as awful as others make it out to be. So I guess I've resigned myself to cheerful misery or I'm miserably content? I'm not sure which? PS. Don't live in Kentucky but I think it's a good place to raise a family. |

Its crazy to me that everyone here knows how little information this company provides and everyday, guys are floating rumors more and more ridiculous. It has to be in writing in order for it to be true (I am not sure I would even believe it if it was in writing) and thus far they have said they are hiring 25 people. We don't even know if that is line guys or line and a management.

Louisville is an awesome town. To each his own. I'll keep the time off at home rather than commuting any day though. |

..In fact, I'd look for about 6 to be hired this year. Thankfully, our contract is restrictive enough on their flying that it wouldn't make sense for UPSS to hire gross amounts of them.
I guess "gross amounts" is a relative term. To me even 1 single person who gets hired off the street and goes straight to the left seat is as "gross" as it gets. Disrespectful and unethical behavior considering thousands of IPAers, pilots with hands-on experience, qualifications and knowledge of operations have been waiting years and years, decades in fact, for an upgrade. :-( L'il - sleeping rooms are "as good as possible"? Really?! C'mon, let's get real. Your hearing must be different than mine. Whenever I renew my medical I'm being told my hearing is very good and apparently that's NOT a good thing around here.. :( If I get a sleeping room facing the sort I get no sleep whatsoever. All I ever hear is the ridiculous honking every 30 seconds or so. Cars, trucks, busses, honk, honk, honk, honk, honk... I sleep with earplugs and have a white-noise app on my phone.... honk, honk, honk... "Hopefully", one day when I go deaf I'll be able to get some sleep there... honk, honk... |

I can find plenty to fault UPS on but the sleep rooms!? No way. They're as good as possible.

Louisville is an awesome town ? Is it the best place on earth? Of course not, however Louisville is a clean, safe and very hospitable city. In general it's cheap to live there and people bend over backwards to be kind to you. Now, if you happen to have allergies you won't like it. ..and if you're an uncompromising Yankee, you'll probably develop allergies just so you can hate it. ;) As always, YMMV. |
