The vor-alpha approach isn't boring though. A lot of pilots refuse to fly it. The natural reaction is to discontinue when the powerplant looms ahead. I can't believe they ever approved that approach! Maybe they know most people are under a hood when they fly it. I always thought it was fun when you hit that plume and things start tossing.

that old bird is in need of some serious TLC.

That reminds me of my highschool days... Me and my college roommate, used to part time for this guy who owned a small cargo company out of Morristown TN... He had one DC3, and we spent the summer scraping paint, Buffing and polishing the metal airframe... Man was it a beauty once we had all of the old paint off and it buffed up.

Cubdriver, we've got to compare notes sometime. We know some folks in common... if we don't know each other. I'd bet a beer.

But he's right.. the northern half of Georgia is a great place to live. Mountains, rolling farmland, nice lakes (Hartwell especially) and if you follow the Savannah river from Hartwell, it winds through to the ocean... and Georgia's barrier islands are beautiful, too.

I traveled a lot when I was a kid and wanted to get out of here. Now each time I'm out on an overnight, I'm wishing I could get back home.

Sure, I'm always up for a beer. And if I can get back to Georgia, it will be on me.

A lot of Delta pilots live in the Atlanta area and many seem to appreciate the pace of life in rural Georgia and the easy climate. I live in Kansas now helping to make business jets, but my heart will always be in my home state. You can take the boy out of the country but never the country out of the boy.
