If you don't stand up to this, how many more people will experience this and have to do it the "wrong" way? This is not right. Standing up to something like this is part of being a CFI, you have to sometimes fight for what's right for your student. Either we are missing some critical piece of information, or you were wronged. If the latter is the case, you need to elevate this. What have you got to lose?

Does anyone know if it's true that you can't take a checkride more then twice with the same dpe? A friend of mine failed his double ii oral and his flight because he said he put his gear up during the climb checklist. The dpe told him he can't retake it with him. Not sure if this is true or not

Um, no, the FAA doesn't really work like this. He could request another examiner/inspector (An inspector is not necessarily a POI, that term shouldn't really be used here), and he should bring this up to the manager to get it resolved, if someone is out there with the wrong idea about 8s on pylons, the situation should get fixed. He has nothing to lose by making a complaint or calling the manager if he's already had an unsatisfactory. If this guy doesn't stand up to this, he stands no chance in real life. This is going to come up as an instructor, you are going to have to stand up for students because stuff will happen. There is not some vast conspiracy to screw over pilots. That's why even the inspectors have managers, and those guys have managers, and so on.

We'll I'm getting handed off to a dpe and of course the dpe is making me redo the oral I passed so I have to redo the whole ride and of course an inspector from the fsdo will be sitting in on it . Not sure how to continue at this point maybe it would be better to go out of district like I should have in the first place .

yes you can go to the manager and say its not right. but certain fsdos DO work in this fashion. i live right next to one. ive watched them give 10 hour orals and fail people. this DOES happen. what your response to the situation is is your choice. but this whole fsdo dont work that way is a load of crap. there are feds that will fail you for stupid stuff when they think they are right.
