Thanks for the link. IF you read it correctly, go to "Original Issuances". Then subtract the examiners, instructors, etc. Those count as original if it was your first time as an examiner or instructor.

When you subtract those out you get less than 200 original ATP's issued for all of 2012.

I don't see where you getting those numbers from.

For original issuance there were 6,396. 5,973 by examiners (FAA designated examiner) and 319 by (FAA) inspectors. 104 were 'no test'. No clue what that column is for.

Using your example - issued minus examiner and minus inspector = 104 (the 'no test' number).

I highly recommend interviewing with EK for the interview experience alone.

Its the perfect prep for mainline interviews and a great way to get a business class a380 ride!

Nothing at all wrong with interviewing, but seriously (fellow pilots) the majors are on a tear hiring. Study, get interview prep help, don't shoot yourself in the foot by going overseas at this point.

If this is any indication of future trends...

We have a number of new hires returning home from the sand pit.
This is also the case at other majors.
Advice given by good people who were/are there:
Go to the sandpit to retire, or to acquire "heavy" time in pursuit of a lucrative Chinese contract.

It is true that the airlines in the US are hiring. However, not all that interview mY get that "dream job" with DAL, UAL, or AA. not all that interview may know the secret handshake that of the squadron commander who may be on the selection committee.

That said, overseas jobs with reputable carriers may be the only source of relief for both a job and a route to command.
