I disagree with Redwood being a "worst" call sign. It's VIRGIN (America)
Virgin.......Redwood. Genius!!

Agree with pause here, "redwood" cannot be anywhere close to the worst, on the contrary its one of my favorites, along with "speedbird" and "mercury"

Flying C-130s' for the Nashville Guard, the Air Force had a "Variable Changing Call Sign" (VCSL) for cargo birds - and for two weeks on a European trip our plane's call sign was "KOTAX." Much laughter on the part of controllers.

On the other hand, our regular call sign was "Music," quite nice for the Music City.

I also like the Seaboard guys call sign "Sasquatch."

At Al Jaber airbase in Kuwait circa March 2003 - - I heard a female F-16 flight lead with the flight callsign 'THONG'

An airline or hardwood floor? Either way, it's on my list.

When I flew for TNT out of Charleroi, Belgium, our callsign was Quality - which I always thought was really lame.

In my USAF time I've used hundreds of callsigns - the ones that were assigned to me-
Vader
Hitman
Salty
Bacon
Balls
Stack

Other good squadron callsigns
Freedom
Jazz
Rexx
VooDoo
MudBug
Reaper
Grim
Wild
Boar
Cylon
Phaser
Opie
Knife
Spear
Angry
too many to list

Crossing the pond we're always something assigned by the planners; usually not anything cool.
