Jet Blue Captain Upgrade Time
Looking to see if someone has current average upgrade time to captain for Jet Blue? Also, is there a website to recommend that would have this information for the airline industry?

There is no real way to tell at this time due the lack of steady hiring for the last 3-4 years.
So this is just a guess....
For a new hire:
A320 Captain: 10-20 years
E190 Captain: 5-10 years
We have nearly 2100 pilots and currently have 155 aircraft and scheduled deliveries of another 110 (55 A320/55 E190) (with options for 76 more 8/68)thru 2018. That means a maximum of 341 aircraft. At our current manning, that means that we already have already hired all current and future A320 Captains already. (8 x 175 = 1400 captains). Counting E190s, we will need (8 x 341 = 2728 total captains). This assumes no sales, and that we take delivery of all scheduled and available options. I personally expect something much lower based our our last 5 year history of reduced growth/no growth and undermanning of the pilot group). If options are ignored, then the last E190 Captian has already been hired.
The thing to remember is that the pilot group here at JetBlue is very young compared to any of the major airlines. We have many A320 Captains that are in the late 30s, early 40s and will be here for many many years. Until we get more growth above our current slow growth or we reach larger retirement numbers (10-15-20 years from now), this will not change.
Hope this helps, but upgrade time for new hires at JetBlue is more like decades vs years
Just my opinion.......

Old thread, but maybe someone can answer.
I see the most jr. captain upgraded 4yrs ago. With some attrition, can anyone on the inside give any rough estimates if that time frame will still hold going forward. I assume the E190 is the best plane to be in for a quicker upgrade.
Thanks in advance!

Yes it did. I dont expect it to stay like that for long. The 4 year guy who got the bus was hired very near the beginning of this 3-4 year hiring spree. There has been 1000 new pilots added to the list since he was hired. Those getting hired now will need significantly more growth to make CA than he did.
As we take pretty much nothing but airbus for the next few years I expect the airbus upgrade will creep up as all the FOs choosing to wait on an airbus slot or line get their chance.
The 190 upgrade will probably continue to be lower but again 900 new pilot slots added since the most junior 190 CA was hired.
My point is those hired today will have a different experience than those hired 3-4 years ago.
