Default upgrade time to captain at NJ

Does anybody know what the approx forcast time to upgrade to Captain at NJ is? Also will NJ accept DTW as a base for pilots? Sorry never really considered it until I started talking to guys on the road. Sounds like a good gig.

I hear upgrades are likely running 6-7 years at Netjets (still less than the upgrade at any major). It used to be quicker but that is the latest estimate. I believe Detroit is one of the 100 pilot domiciles. Starting salary is in the $60K range.

Check the following link to compare Netjets to other fractionals (the domicile list should be on there as well):

I was told about 5 years, but it depends on what you want to upgrade to since the upgrades are done by senority in fleet. If you want to upgrade to a Citation X the wait may be longer than an ultra for example.

I beg to differ. There are a few majors with quicker upgrade.

AirTran
Allegiant
Aloha
Frontier
JetBlue

The Ultra is a dying fleet.

I'm sure you know he meant the legacies. These are not majors by the way, if you wanna get technical, then add Eagle, Comair and Skywest to the list.

I don't think the upgrade is runing 7 years these days, I'll say more like 5 (FOR NOW).

The day is fast approaching when NetJets will have permanent FOs. Santulli has always stated that he plans a maximum of 5000 pilots. With current PIC/SIC ratios, that will be 3000 PICs and 2000 SICs.

The last seniority list exceeded 2800. If you aren't one of the next 200 newhires, you will only upgrade because of attrition.

It's very hard to project upgrade times now with the new TA. Too many unknowns.

How many will leave in the next couple years? Probably not many, but there will always be a slow trickle of old guys leaving.

How many will wait to upgrade on an APU airplane? It might become more prevalent with a 39 month seat lock now.

How many with airline or military pensions (or just don't need the money) will just choose to stay an FO for the relative seniority? There's been a couple recently that bid NJI FO and they could have held NJA Capt.

I certainly don't have the answers to these questions, but I think it will be interesting to watch for the next couple years.
