State Department comment period on Fair Skies

In the letter posted by TP, the one glaring hole is this coalition never addresses the fact that the ME3 are cheating due to subsidies. Not one word in the letter defending the ME3 and claiming they aren't actually subsidized, just whining that their business interests will be hurt once the middle east retaliates. Did somebody did up Chamberlain to write this letter?
Seriously, look who wrote it. Cargo carriers that don't have an ME3 equivalent to fend off but will feel the ramifications of a middle east retaliation, and minor domestic players in the US market that don't care how they get their customers get to our shores, as long as they can fly them to Disney or Waikiki who cares?
If the ME3 were encroaching on the cargo industry with unfair business practices they way they are on the passenger side, Atlas and Fedex would be on the opposite side of the table. If the ME3 were allowed to fly US domestic flights without any concern for load factors and profit, JB would wink out of existence.
This entire thing reminds me of a neighborhood about to be engulfed by a raging forest fire. The "big 3" have houses that border the forest and this "coalition" has houses across the street. Instead of helping their neighbors with the fire by bringing hoses and water, they throw gas on the fire because they stupidly think the fire will just stop on the other side. Once their neighbors houses burn down surely the fire will be quenched and they'll now have prime real estate bordering the forest once it regrows. The problem is the fire ain't stopping on the other side of the street -- it's coming for you too dumb@sses, you're just too focused on this quarter's balance sheet to notice.

Right after I have lunch with Salman Rushdie and drive through the streets of Mecca with a " ____ SUCKS!" bumper sticker (use your imagination to fill in the blank by naming an esteemed deity of your choice).

Pump the stock through increased feed taken from the Big Three and then when they cease to exist, lobby for the end of cabotage. Huge buyout, killer bonuses and stock options for the elite and the worker types are left holding a bag.

I've always thought the legacy unions should black list pilots who feel it's ok to run overseas and work for these anti-american/anti-capitalist airlines. To me a pilot who works for qatar, emirates or ethiad to get on a wide body the easy way are no different than a person who would cross a picket-line.
The funny thing is these people always beg to come back a couple years later. Maybe it's time to tell them they aren't welcome on our seniority lists or our jump seats.

I do agree that nearly all who can, do come crawling back at some point. Only those westerners with the most liberal of gag reflexes can manage to sustain a lifetime of living in the ME.
