You WILL NOT get a company paid rental car after ground school if your in Burlingame. I went through in 2012 and we received no such thing, however, if you go to sim in MIA I think they will provide a rental car. Just want to clarify that.
For those wondering about holding lines-
LAX is the most senior base, so don't plan on holding anytime soon there. You would need at least 2.5-3yrs seniority to be a bottom line holder there.
SFO and JFK would be your best bet for holding a line the quickest. For JFK the most junior line holder is March of 2014. Not sure about SFO but I would assume it's around the same time frame, about 1-1.5yr for line holding in SFO and JFK.
Training times vary. For me it took about 8 weeks from start to finish of IOE. Not sure how long it is now.
Reserve here is horrible. Sorry to say. The company has no intention of working on reserve work rules at this point. Luckily we have ALPA on board now and we can start the process of negotiating our first contract soon, hopefully.
To those of you waiting in the pool congrats.. This is really a great group of guys/gals here. You will have a blast flying with everyone here. We've got a lot of ground to make up for in work rules and pay however. Good luck to all and look forward to seeing you on line soon!

They have to give a $40 stipend per day of simulator for transportation. For recurrent it's just a one day sim so they pay this stipend. But for new hires with multiple sim sessions, it's more cost effective to provide a rental car for a pair of pilots.

My start/hire date was in February of this year (2015) Every person in our class was offered a rental car after ground school to keep through our checkride.
My advice to save money is get a crashpad in Northpark. Rates are about $300ish (+/- $30 in either direction) They are NOT easy to get into ( lot of airlines have bases here). The day you get a class date, get on it and find a pad.
Ground school is 2 weeks. Entire program is approximately 6 weeks. You'll have 2-3 days off per week. None of the bases are really jr or sr. There are only a few numbers difference between SFO/JFK and then LAX is a bit more senior (for FOs anyway) Don't like your base assignment? You should be able to get into your choice within the next 1 or 2 base bids at worst.
Be prepared to work. Training people are there to help and as long as they see you working hard and putting in the effort needed with a good attitude, you'll get through it. Lot of great people you get to work with.
Welcome aboard and I look forward to getting more senior as you start date approaches (whenever that may be)

If I remember correctly there were either 39 or 42 hired so far in 2015. I don't believe all of us are still here though. (everyone in my class is still here)

You have a better chance of guessing the lotto numbers than guessing when our window will open again. Money says sometime in September though. When it happens, it's usually without notice or fanfare, keep an ear to the track. We will need to hire.
