I'm a 2013 hire and almost all the attrition is from guys below me. I think there may be less attrition this year than there was last year.

I am in the hold pool waiting patiently (arrgghhhh) and have never worked for an airline in the US. I find it odd that an airline would interview candidates and then discover that they dont need them for 8 months (in my case based on rumour) even though their fleet plan has not changed.

I understand that attrition has not been as high as expected but were they really expecting to lose so many pilots that a selection process was started?

Another day another lesson.

It is odd. I know a guy who was in the pool for around a year before he started class. Left in the dark until a month or two before. It would be nice if they had some sort of poolie update periodically.

I find it kind of disrespectful that this place can hire people into a pool and then keep them in the complete dark for an extended time an actually expect them to still want to work here.

Yeah its kinda taken the shine off especially considering I have knocked back several short contracts on the assumption I have a job to go to soon.

Fingers crossed.

It is odd, but not really unheard of unfortunately. And even though there were different dynamics in play, other airlines have had the same issue.

UPS
FedEx
Alaska
Hawaiian
SouthWest

With a few of those that had people in the people in the pool and make them reinterview after a certain period of time has elapsed.

It does suck to be in the pool and not hear anything. I know we will lose people in the poll to other airlines as well. My buddy is in the pool, and accepted another offer because he hasn't been updated, although VX was his first choice.

Why would VX be your first choice? It's a regional flying Airbus! Just look at the pay and bennifits package.

Ahh...the "you don't want to go to a legacy?!" judging begins. It's not all about pay and benefits. Virgin's pay and benefits are 1000x better than any regional out there and are on par with their counterparts. The majors aren't the "end all be all" of flying.
