UPS hiring pool
A good friend of mine has been in the pool at UPS for some time now. Anyone know the average length of time a poolie sits waiting? Any new classes planned in the near future? It seems like a tough way to start with a company- you're hired, now wait months to hear from us...

The wait to exit the icy pool has lasted as long as 3 to 4 years for some, 3 months for others.
We're short pilots Big Time right now, so hiring should stay maxed out in the training center for the next few years. More aircraft are coming, Menlo flying should be flown by IPA pilots by 2007, and retirements are starting to surge. Tell your buddy to hang tight.

"Menlo flying should be flown by IPA pilots by 2007"
There is a maintenance planning page that can be accessed via the flight ops site. It's been pretty accurate about equipment changes in different gateways and routing changes. It shows a bunch of new IPA flying for Menlo on 7/11/06.

I was wrong to say it's on the flight ops site. But I get to it the same way I access that. Anyhow....
go to www.remote.ups.com
input your super secret data.
Click on "Inside UPS"
"Operations"
"Air Group, Air Region"
"Aircraft Maintenance"
"Aircraft Maintenance Planning (AMP)"
"Scan - Schedule analysis"
"Flight Schedule information"
That's how I do it. It's a lot quicker on a UPS computer. And there may be shortcuts or a better way to do it.

I'm doing it from home right now.

You have to use this sign in: www.remote.ups.com
After you use your RSA token, there will be a menu. Flightops is one of those choices, but that's not where you want to go. You need to click on "Inside UPS" and follow the above instructions.
