It all depends on which recruiter you get. It also depends on whether or not they're in a good mood or not, sluggish as a result of a recent lunch (or none at all), who they just spoke with prior to you, how many people they've seen prior to you etc etc etc. It also has a lot to do with your presentation and overall approach to the meet and greet (I'm not suggesting that yours was poor or unprepared). There are so many variables and a lot of luck that goes into whether or not your experience is positive or negative one.

I had a wonderful experience with JetBlue at WAI, but an abysmal one most recently with them at OBAP. At OBAP the JB recruiter asked me "Why us?" I gave my answer (not memorized or canned) hitting all the "high points" and afterward he simply asked if I had any questions for him without asking me anything else about my resume/experience etc etc. It's all hit or miss sometimes...keep at it though!

I'm surprised they didn't tell you to become a check airman.

I'm already a check airmen. JetBlue FedEx and American went well, delta and United, wasn't anything great, just kept asking if I have questions for them. I'm starting to think this job fair stuff is a bunch of crap Iv been to 7

The whole job fair thing is a gigantic scam. Pathetic what people will do just to get a freaking JOB.

OBAP, WIA, and NGPA job fairs attended 95% by white, male, straight pilots. Isn't that an insult to OBAP/WIA/NGPA, after all their goals are to promote and further aviation for black/women/gay (respectively). Or is just collecting the $200-500 dollar job fair fee considered supporting the cause?

I don't think it is insulting. These groups promote inclusiveness and fairness which isn't always demonstrated by this good ole boy club of aviation.

I got hired on the spot by American Eagle back in the 90's so job fairs can be good.

Job fairs are just organizations that are hiding behind tax exemptions that are money making businesses that figured out how to generate even more income.
This job fair pay to play nonsense taking the form of minority promotion is a bubble that will hopefully burst sooner than later and I'm sure there are a lot of people who won't be sorry to see it go.
The cost of entry alone is absurd for just for a couple of minutes just to be told to go run along and go be a check airman, volunteer, etc,etc and come back in a year. Rinse and repeat.
Let's not forget how much it cost for a hotel, food, dry cleaning, interview prep course, rental cars, time off from work. The list goes on. It would be nice to see some statistics on the percentage of people who attended One single job fair and what the total cost was to attend and the result. Then two. Then Three.......
This is a huge moneymaker. We all know it's a scam. Unfortunately this is the only way (as of now) that qualified pilots can get any attention from the hot girl that otherwise would not look in their general direction.
The desirable major airlines which command the bulk of attendance at these seem less interested in getting to know you and more interested in your acting skills. This will be the norm until the burst of the bubble.
Why isn't ALPA, jointly with the companies, sponsoring and hosting their own job fairs while offering in-depth interview prep with ALPA carriers using ALPA volunteers ?
